Grace Firmeza (co-owner), and Kriselda Alvarez (co-owner & baker) are Filipino immigrants who came to Canada with dreams and aspirations.
How Xena’s Bread & Butter Came to Be
Grace and Kriselda wanted to bring their Filipino culture to Halifax. Starting out, they borrowed a friend’s commercial kitchen and baked through the evenings in order to keep up with the order requests. After a year of planning and months of hard work, Xena’s finally found its own space in the heart of Halifax – 1996 Brunswick St, Halifax, NS.

Recreating our favourite Filipino treats during the pandemic, we shared our unique dishes at a local farmer’s market with customers longing to return to the Philippines but unable to due to travel restrictions.

Our hours of operation are Monday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm; Friday from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm; Saturday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm; Sunday 8:30 am to 7:00 pm.
